TOMORROW: Samantha Johnson CD Release Party

This is a message off my friend Samantha who is having her CD release party and concert in Oxford, at the Catweazle Club! Do come!

Samantha’s message:

I’ve been working on an album over the last few years
which—gasp—is finally complete.  I hope you’ll be able to help me
celebrate its release by joining in the revelry at the Catweazle Club on
Thursday, 19 July @ 9 pm.
Here’s what there is to know:WHAT: Organ of Habit CD release party
WHERE: Catweazle Club, East Oxford Social Club (located in the East Oxford
Community Centre, on the corner of Princes Street and Cowley Road)
WHEN: 9 pm, Thursday 19 July 2007 (come at 8 to sign up if you’d like to
COST: £5/£4 concessions (but free for performers)

As always, a night at Catweazle includes a serendipitous blend of music,
poetry, stories and other performed miscellany from the glistening depths
of Oxford’s bottomless pit* of artistic talent.  You, too, may take the
stage, and if you do the evening’s entertainments are all yours, free of

In addition to the night’s usual cabaret, I’ll be playing an extended set
of tunes from my new album. And I’ll have copies with me (for sale) as
well as homemade, guitar-shaped cookies (for free).

I hope to see you there!

*While this metaphor is appropriate in that it hints at the dark
complexity of the creative struggle, has nice renewable-resource
connotations and neatly ties in with the closing song at last Thursday’s
show, it should not be confused with the colloquialism ‘the pits.’
Miraculously, Catweazle’s ‘refreshingly inclusive’ approach consistently
yields performances of the highest quality. You have to see it to believe
